LTE plan pricing?

So perhaps I'm just stupid blind but I can't find any LTE pricing on vzw site. Can anyone clue me in to the pricing? What is the price difference between LTE plans and 3g unlimited add on?

None yet, for phones at least. Verizon has yet to change their all-you-can-eat data plan for phones into the tiered ones we know are coming. Rumors keep saying it'll happen soon, but there's been no defined dates set yet that have been posted.

So say you buy a Thunderbolt today with a 2 year contract, and Verizon announces the tiered service tomorrow. Will you keep unlimited data for 2 years, or will your plan automatically get downgraded to 2gb (or whatever the cap is)?

They can't change the terms of the contact in that 2 year period so you would have unlimited for 2 years

Unfortunately that is not true. They change the terms of your contract all the time. You do have the ability to cancel your contract after a change (for a limited time) without the normal early termination fees. But they absolutely can and do change people's contracts during the contract term.

In the 14 years I've had them, they have not done this to me (even when they emerged from consolidating regional carriers like my BellAtlantic Moblie and switching from analog to digital.)

verizon doesnt usually change contracts when they change thier service

there are still people on the old nationwide plans, heck even some alltell members still have thier own plans

what they do eventually is make newer phone incompatible with those old plans so when you get a new phone you have to switch to a newer plan

Exactly, that is why a lot of us are nervious about the tiered data and being "grandfathered" into the new plans.

I think I'm going to wait for Verizon to actually announce pricing for LTE not unlimited. Not enough good choices and I love my Incredible for now. Also, I want to make an informed decision and not rush in to buying new hardware.

do you have to have a 4g phone to be grandfathered in to unlimited 4g pricing, or any data plan?

I am thinking of getting a 4g phone for just this reason, but all 3 of them suck....

Nobody really knows. Everything is speculating. The best way to make sure you have unlimited 4g for the next 2-years (length of your contract) is to get a phone now. Even then, they could change the terms of your contract but if they did that the speculation is you could get out of the contract.

I don't see any other way of getting grandfathered? I would think you need to purchase an LTE capable phone.

When I called the representative said I would be locked into unlimited LTE for my entire contract. But you are right that it is still speculation.

If you all follow @P3Droid he is stating that if you want unlimited 4g you had better act soon. He doesn't have any specific date, but from what he is hearing it is "soon".

He goes onto say that you will be only grandfather in for the balance of your current contract. So your next upgrade / contract renewal you will have to switch to a tiered plan. He states that if you outright purchase (full retail) your second 4g phone you should be able to keep your current plan.

Thats what I suspect. I'm thinking about getting the charge, and then just maybe pay to get something better and sell the charge on ebay once better phones come out.

Thats a good idea or you could buy from Costco. They have a 90 day return policy that doesn't change your contract, so you can buy now, hope something better comes out within 90 days, exchange the Charge for the new phone. This doesn't change your contract so you should still get unlimited 4g on the new phone. That is my intent, I am just trying to hold out as long as possible prior to them changing over to a tiered system.
