LTE Speed Problems

bar code

Newbie
I have LG Motion. I canceled my unlimited LTE data plan because I wasn't getting unlimited LTE. As far as I know speeds are as follows:

LTE
8-9mbps average.
5mbps minimum.

4G
5-6mbps average.
3mbps minimum.

Well I was constantly getting less than the minimum LTE speed of 5mbps. When it should never drop below that.

This was especially difficult when I tethered my phone to my PC expecting nice speeds dipping to 5mbps at minimum. That way I can play games, watch vids, etc.

Yet, the speeds I was getting was constantly below 1mbps.

I'm not sure where you got the numbers you listed. LTE and 4G are the same thing, at least as far as MetroPCS is concerned (for those on GSM phones, they call HSPA+ 4G). The speed you get is dependent on your area and how many people are using it, and other factors that I'm sure other folks on here can better relate. I can get 4-8Meg download speeds and then in the same area just different times will get significanly slower speeds.

Exactly, and depending on where you live the speeds might actually have dropped recently, I think its part of the tmo merger they are working on the towers making them compatible with each network.

If you actually dropped your lte service for the reasons you listed and did not contact metro to find out or even let them know your service is not as normal you may not want to use metro service.:p

I've haven't seen this mentioned yet.

I think about this merger of systems and I start to worry a bit.

It sounds like it could be one well oiled clusterphuque. You've got companies that were competitors now Working Together to merge the systems. I can see there being a stepping on toes attitude. What if the Metro enganeers see (just for the sake of discussion) that they're being told to do something they Know isn't good for *Metro* but benefits T-Mo. What are the odds that the combining will happen and freekin' magically, no one's speeds go in the crapper and everyone has all the candies and nuts their phone can use with no major hiccups?

If you put $500 in my hand right now and said go buy a Metro or TMo phone Right Now I'd say NFW for at least a few months til I see plenty of evidence they've got all the hamsters running on the same wheel in the same direction.

But that's just me and I gots these really weird glasses. :D

There will probably be slow downs in some places while they rework the Internet backbone into tmobiles fiber backbone on the sites they will be keeping

Well one thing for sure my speeds have dropped dramatically as of late now even at 3 in the morning I struggle to get 5mbps, i feel like this new metro sale has clogged up all the pipes near me

hell I would be all over it, get a gsm phone and ride it out, that is what all the current customers are doing now anyway right:D

And I agree with dirty, right now data speeds have gone in the crapper. I used to have up to 10mb/s at my house then it dropped to 4-5 and now I'm lucky to see 3 down upload speed is just about the same.

I envy your +1mb up and down. I haven't seen those numbers in my area for a few months. Regardless of the time, with different PRLs as well.

Hm, my speed locally has gone from a very consistent 1300 down since I got the Motion last year, to 4-5M down. Not sure exactly when the change happened but it's recent. Last time I checked before today was probably a couple of weeks ago.

It does appear that in the past 2 weeks here in Slocala I've lost about 1-1.5 Mps. I'm still getting around 1.5-3.0 consistently so that's ok with me.

But it Doesn't look like they've gotten faster and it Does look little a noticeable decrease.

They must be shipping your megabytes up north to us.

I'd same problem but now it's better what I did is I flash the stock baseband to the costume baseband after that I got most of the time more than 5.75mbs upload and b/n 2mbs and 4mbs download , try to flash your baseband and see if it works for you.

Speeds seem a bit slower here in North Jersey/NYC I'm getting 2.5-3.8mbs down and a constant 4mbs up on average throughout today. Slower but I didn't notice it until I did the test so it's still usable and still better around here than Sprint.

Look of all the drops in speed I seen but it seems mega consistent throughout the day

If it was to some area only getting glorified 3G, hey, that's good with me.

Well, *something* May be happnin' here in Slocala.

Had a pretty stout blast period last night. ;) That 6.98 is not only a new record here but by almost a full Gig. (The prior record was 6.03-6.06) I would assume mid-evening last night could have been a strong usage time being at the end of a holiday weekend.

Of course, this morning seems more back to the "norm".

[EDIT] Actually maybe a significant difference from the Norm. In the past few days the signal sure seems to have "stabilized" a lot. A much smoother signal line on the SpeedTests and no occurrences of the normal SpeedTest then the really slow page load just after that.

Probably that new backhaul I was talking bout

Today's tests in Slocala, D/L, spread pretty evenly thru the day.

5.98, 3.49, 2.97, 5.63, 3.08, 4.03, 3.01, 3.49, 3.73, 2.42, 3.55, 4.43

A considerable step up from the past 1-3.5 consistents. Again the signal seems more steady too.
