Help Lyrics drowned out

When i listen to my Razr Maxx music thru my car spreakers the vocals get drowned out. I can barely hear the lyrics at all. Any suggestions?

Not sure what you mean. Distortion? Engine noise? I had a bad cord, and there was a lot of engine noise from it. Swapping to a new cord fixed it. I use Power Amp, the equalizer makes the sound much richer.

Assuming you're plugged into your car's radio using a cord, you should turn off the phone's built in equalizer settings. The defaults are pretty screwed up (how come no manufacturers understand how to use an equalizer?)

Settings>Sounds>Media Audio Effects>Wired Stereo Devices>Uncheck

You might also want/need to play with the EQ settings on the radio.

This is how I have my settings on my MAXX. Music sounds great.

music>menu button>settings>audio effects>wired stereo devices>effects profile>custom>Surround>off>equalizer>brilliant treble.

Tips:
Turn your phones volume to about 80% then adjust your cars volume accordingly. If you put the phone volume to 100% you will get distortion. Even when the car volume is low.

If you need more bass try putting the equalizer to bass punch.

Question:
does this happen when you listen to music with headphones? How about when just listening with the phone's speaker?

My tape adapter sounds like crap... my audio cord sounds fine most time... i use winamp pro... all other tips users provide are good ones.... ive experienced this as well... just got to play around with it

I haven't seen the default equalizer settings, but vocals fall into the midrange of our hearing. If an equalizer is set to boost both the bass and treble, then the midrange can be playing at several decibels lower than the lows and highs.

A lot of people like those weird boosted lows and highs. Most of the music is in the midrange. Artificially boosting lows to get an emphasized boominess is not good music, in my humble opinion.

---------- This. When I first got the Maxx, the music sounded horrible in my headphones. I unchecked the Audio Effects as described above and that fixed the problem.

+1 Here too. Music was sounding really bad. Dug into the settings, turned off audio effects and the surround sound and now it's not too bad. I might have to find something with a bit better fine tuning on the equalizer as I'd like to tweak it a bit but the defaults were just way off. Very noisy highs and inaudible mids.

I listen to a lot of heavy metal FWIW.

If you are using Google Music...

I know exactly what you are talking about and how to fix it.

Rescue your music from the 3D effect equalizer setting. From Google Music, hit settings, then Equalizer, then make your adjustments there. I shut the Equalizer off completely. I use the equalizer on my car stereo instead. See the attached screenshots.
