M8/Textra resurrecting deleted contacts??

So I was gonna type a text in Textra. I typed the first letter of a name and then all my old contacts show up. Not only do long since deleted ones show up, though they were many phones ago, but ones that don't even have that letter in it! Also, phone numbers from Craigslist replies I didn't even save show up under some random name like the email addresses give you on there. What the heck is going on?

Edit: My stock text app does this also. This tells me that Google may be having issues and also they never delete contacts you save .....and then delete.

When you select what you want to populate your contacts list under People, did you select your G+ profile and everything?

If you select everything when populating your contact list, it will grab all kinds of stuff from your Google profile. Contacts from G+, contacts from your email, stuff from everywhere.

I hate when I forget to omit the peripheral stuff and I get ridiculous junk in my contacts.

If you open up your People app, or swipe over when in the dialer to People, tap on the Phonebook header in the top left corner. You'll get a list of contacts sources that are synced up. Uncheck the G+ listing, and I bet a lot of that junk gets deleted.

Also, open up your Gmail on a browser, top left under the google header you'll see Gmail with a little down arrow. Click on that and select contacts. Delete anything you don't want in there. Then open up your phone and force a Google profile sync, it "should" update your contact list properly. :)

I know how to select which contacts to display and sync. However, I've checked and none of them show up under contacts. They only show up when I type a letter or more to send a text. Otherwise my contact list doesn't show them at all.
