Mac and samsung

Getting the hang of the S7 edge now and I can appreciate why android is so popular. Anyhow I'm trying to transfer media files into my edge and the imac isn't recognising it. Is there anything I need to do??

Macs need to use a separate program to interact with Android devices. The advertised plug and use for Android only works with Windows and Linux.

Many people suggest Android Bridge, but I hear that lately it's become buggy. The official Samsung programs are SideSync and SmartSwitch. SideSync I handles the file transfer with the bonus of allowing you to display your phone screen and control it on your Mac. You can type and send SMS using it among other stuff like using your mouse to play games. SmartSwitch handles backups and updates. Note that SmartSwitch doesn't do backups of app data. You need another program for that.

Airdroid is another popular solution.
