Help Magisk (root)

Does anyone have any hands on experience with magisk (replaces superuser/supersu)? I've read up a lot on it and there's been bits and pieces of information on it that I'm looking for but everything isn't 100% clear as to if I want to flash magisk on my nexus 6 or not.

What I'm looking for is to be able to 100% hide root as an app I need to use (virtual merchant) can't run while rooted like most money and banking apps. I've ran through other procedure to hide root but to no avail virtual merchant still detects root.

TIA!

Sounds like this financial or merchant app is doing it's job of security properly, if it's still detecting the firmware is rooted and modified, with superSU or superuser or lack thereof. I'm sure with these things, it's not just the fact it's detecting root, superuser, or whatever, it's detecting it's been modified and isn't as the manufacturer made it. I'm highly suspicious of these supposed "root cloaking" apps. With rooted and modified firmware, it can hide keyloggers, and other spying and stealing nasties in them.

Thought of a post last week, when someone was trying to install Viber into a secure payment terminal device with Android, NO WAY!.

Yeah it seems like it's detecting when the system is root ready rather than if it's actually rooted (unlocked boot loader/custom recovery) but not 100% positive.

Although if I were able to bypass its security check, would be nice to eliminate carrying around 2 devices (1 personal and 1 strictly for the virtual merchant app and unrooting/rooting on a daily basis is too much of a hassle.

I did try using it on a stock unrooted rom, which to no avail gives me the same results thus leading me to believe the unlocked boot loader/custom recovery is the cause.
