Mail App: Totally Delete a Mail Account

I had a hotmail account that I setup through the mail app on my EVO 4G. I deleted the account by menu/more/settings/delete account. This successfully deletes the account but when I type the first letter of the e-mail account it pulls down a selection box showing the e-mail address. I want to totally delete all traces of this account from the phone. Does anyone know how to do this?

So, when you are typing somewhere, your keyboard/input application has remembered the email address that you used before, and you want to remove it from the keyboard dictionary?

Or, when you go to the website in the browser, the browser remembers it and puts it into the email address field?

Or, the address is in your phone contacts?

Or...

Or...

You need more detail about where you are typing this and what is happening. Your account is gone. It's probably just the address is in memory somewhere. We can't tell you where, unless you tell us where :)

It was set up through the mail app. that came on the Evo 4G phone. It was setup by selecting other(pop3/IMAP) and typing the name in the Email Address box. This is the box that I am trying to figure out how to clear from memory. I have run several cache cleaner apps and it is not cleaning where ever this is stored. thanks for your help!

Did you clean both CACHE and DATA from the Email application, and Account/Sync Settings?

(Note: Doing this will remove any other mail accounts you have setup.)

I don't believe so. I can't find where to go to do that. Remember the account does not exist. When I go to accounts and sync it is not listed. Is there another spot to do this. When in the mail application I can't find an option to do anything like that. When I go to Applications/Manage Applications/All/Mail (fyi the app is Mail for Android version 2.00.0037.60865) I shows storage of 3.02MG but the clear cache and clear data button are not available. Only the About and Force Stop are.

maybe you could try adding a new email account and seeing if those buttons become available.

not sure exactly how likely this is to work, but it may be worth a shot.

so this address is only being stored in the 'email' box of the mail app?
where you go to create an email account?

Correct. So when you go to begin to setup a new email account and type the first letter, and its the same as the old account's first letter, it brings up a drop down box showing that old e-mail address

maybe try reinstalling the app.
im not sure if backing up the app would also copy its cached data, but I assume that it would.

if that doesn't work the only thing I can think of is running the factory data reset in the privacy settings screen. but i'd hope that'd be avoidable.

someone must know what to do!?

Another thought: What if you go into the uninstall screen of the email app. If the stop running app button is active stop the app, then clear all data. Then check if the address still shows up. If not you can configure all other email accounts again. If it stll shows up then it is not inside the email app.

I have the same exact issue. I have found a few threads on this in other forums, but no one has had an answer. No history cleaner, cache cleaner, clear data, etc. has worked. Has anyone found a solution to this short of a factory reset?
