Help Mail Not Arriving At All

When I tether my HOX my mail pours in, but on it's own it trickles in and I miss the vast bulk of it. I got 15 emails today, my phone never recieved any of these, I only got yesterdays.
I use hotmail.
What are the optimum settings for pushing (or whatever) all the mail as it arrives?
Here are the current settings, though I have tried combinations:
peak time sync - smart sync
off peak - smart sync
peak time - m-f 8 til 8
Dload past email - 1 day
refresh on open - Dload when I open folder
folder to sync - inbox

Now I have tried 'Dload Past Mail' at 1 day, 7 days, All. It seems to cure the issue.. once.

Any help truly appreciated.

Same again today, untethered = 0 mail. Tethered = 4 mail. *scratches head*

have you tried telling it to sync at set intervals instead of relying on smart sync?

try setting it to sync every hour and see what happens.

Pretty much tried all options now, no difference. There are others with this issue too, another thread on this has opened.

what external email are you using btw? gmail, hotmail etc?

I've noticed some syncing issues on mine (I have to basically manual sync it most of the time). wondering if its due to a specific email provider. I only use Hotmail for emails.

I'm was having these issue with my built in hotmail app. It's stopped syncing almost 2 weeks saying sync was temporary unavailable and would be back shortly. Its back working from this evening :-D
