Mail stale storage

RonKo

Hello:

I only use the GMAIL app and Road Sync for mail on my HTC Hero. However, when I go into Manage Applications, the Mail by HTC Corp is using 6.55MB of data space. At one time I did have a POP3 account and an Exchange account setup to use the Mail on this phone but have since deleted the accounts. Is there a way to reclaim this 6.55MB of space? As you all know, space on the HTC Hero is a premium.

Thanks,

RonKo

I would expect you could root your Hero (that almost sounds kinky) and use an app like Titanium Backup to actually remove the stock mail app thereby freeing up that space.

I am hesitant to root my phone, don't know why as I have hacked just about every other electronic device in my house. For some reason I am leary. Are there any other suggestions? Would rooting it with unrevoked be sufficient or do I need to do a full mod?
