Help Major 4.4.4 issues

Apparently, Google has decided they, not I, should decide what I put on my phone. My main gripe with 4.4.4 is that any music files I attempt to add either by synch or USB don't seem to get added. Also, pictures no longer save either. I've had to use a 3rd party photo app to take pictures. I'm about ready to go to an iPhone or Windows phone.
Does anyone know how I can get around this autocratic BS? I'm not a very technical guy, so anything that doesn't involve reprogramming or rooting my phone would be great.

It would help if you tell us what your phone is, how exactly you attempt to add your stuff into the phone, as what you are describing isn't normal behavior for any version of Android.

If you are tryng to write to the external SD card, you can't unless the phone is rooted or the application
specifically allows you to.
