Major Headache with Sixaxis & it's controller app

Just can't get this to work the way I'm guessing it's supposed to.. & believe me I've tried .
I've done the bluetooth address thing with the pairing tool, followed the guide, looked at videos on You Tube.. I launch the Sixaxis controller app on my N7 press the PS button on my Sixaxis & get the 'Listening for controllers' message but it never finds it.. what on earth am I doing wrong?

The first time you pair, don't you have to do it with a USB Cable? Have you tried that?
