Root major safestrap problem

ok, so I was going to dabble in some ICS ROMmage, and thought I better do a backup first. I boot into safestraps recovery, and create a backup in safe mode, then I create a backup in unsafe mode (I don't know the difference so I figured I would just do a backup in both) then I reboot the phone, and I am met with the "Touch the Android to Begin" screen. what the heck? All I did was create a couple backups and now my phone is wiped? It's like it just came out of the box.
I rebooted back into safestrap recovery, and restored my "unsafe" backup. rebooted, same thing.

I'm currently trying to restore the "safe" backup. will update.

How odd, creating a backup should literally just take everything from the moment you make the back-up and save it. When you restore it everything should be back the way it was before.

I agree.

good news, is that after restoring the "safe" backup, I am now staring at my liberty ROM boot animation. that's a good sign atleast.
