Hi I'm new and just wanted to share to those interested in how to make any beats my dre compatible with android. if you have found yourself in that situation where you purchased your beats and never thought to look if they'll work on android ( like myself ) well i have a fix for that. first this involves hardware modification for some not all depends what beats you have. If you have the solo or studio beats headphone then the fix is really simple and it would not avoid your warranty and its as simple as purchasing another audio cable. the solo and studio have a removable audio cable which again due to hardware incompatibility it does not work on android. however buying a compatible audio cable with controltalk compatible with android would fix your problem. Now you might ask your self,, but what about the power beats or tour which dont have a removable cable. well the only fix for that is hardware modification. first thing is first this WILL AVOID YOUR WARRANTY so if you have one i suggest to just return them and get another earphones but if you dont them continue reading. Ok, this will involve some kind of knowledge or experience soldering two components. Its not hard to be honest im no genius and i manage to do it just fine but there are some people that are just... well clumsy when it comes to this sort of thing so if your one of them get some one else to do it for you. Ok before we start i will say this, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU MAY DO TO THE EARPHONES OR YOURSELF!!. that being said lets get this started. first you will need a pair of earphones or headphones with controltalk compatible with your phone it does not have to be expensive as this mod will not affect audio quality at all. I myself bought this cheap 6$ samsung earphone with control talk from ebay i recoment buying them as i used them for this mod therefore it will be a lot esier for you to do this. im not posting the link because i dont know if its against the rules so just search for them on ebay they're for the galaxy s3/s4 pictures below
OK now get your beats and open the control talk, be very careful not to harm your self as its somewhat hard to open. i suggest putting pressure on the side will crack the plastic and open the sell. dont be too concern about the internals as we will be replacing them anyway just make sure you dont cut any cables or rip them off the logic board to which they are solder to, as you may damage them. picture below of the internals opened ( note i cut the logic board in half almost cutting the cables do dot make this mistake lol )
then open up the other control talk that are compatible with android. for this you will have to be extremely careful as you can not damage the internal or the shell as it will stay as your new controltalk. i recommend to use the earphones i used as they look good after everything is done and it will be easier for you to follow what im doing. i used a very sharp knife to open the shell just slowly cutting the side of the shell be patient or you'll cut your self. then remove all the cables from the logic board using a soldering iron picture below
ok now go back to your beats do the same process remove the two cables from its logic board using a soldering iron. now you will solder those two cables from your beats to the new logic board we took from the other cheap earphones. solder the wires as followed. you should have two wires from your beats one white and the other one does not have a protective cover the color may differ but you should have one with a colored protective cover and one without it. now the logic board should have three connectors at the end which are labeled M+ GND R+ this is where having the same earphones as the ones i used comes in handy. now solder the wire without its protective cover to the M+ and the one with its protective colored cover to the GND and R+ pictures below
after you have done that test for any issues it should work just fine if you did everything as instructed volume up and down mic as well. then place the now solder logic board to the shell it came with i suggest putting tape at each corner just to keep it together then apply any plastic glue to glue them. dont put too much as glue may go all the way inside and affect the mic. And thats it you should have a working controltalk the earphones said that it was universal meaning the control talk should still work on iphone but i don have an iphone so i couldnt test that feature if you guys do this then comment to see if it still works on iphone. if you guys found this helpful please share this post with others
and if your feeling really generous you can buy me a drink
