Help Make screen-rotation faster?

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
Is there an app that can adjust the sensetivity/speed of the auto screen rotation or is that a deeper function that an app isnt capable of?
I remember when the 1st iphone came out, i had a Symbian app for nokia to make it auto-rotate and it had perameters for speed, sensetivity.
I find stock too delayed but to sensetive (it gets triggered too easily but takes ages to rotate and then rotate back so i keep it disabled until i need it)
Surely it could be a lot more optimised on a phone like this :)

Nah its not the amination speed bro. Ive played with that. Its like... it gets to a certain angle where it decides its gona rotate, then pauses for like a second (probs more like half a second lol but time is money) then rotates. Theres a delay that id like to be able to adjust.
I like auto rotation and wouldnt mind it happening by accident sometimes if it was instant and didnt take over a second to return to how i want it. Know what i mean?

I see what you mean about there being a moment of hesitation, but it seems pretty darn quick on my S3. I also think there may be a slight delay to avoid rotation during unintentional, quick movements of the phone...

Let me tell you, I get spoiled by the S3- my Nook Color running CM 10.1 takes a full 2-3 seconds to rotate. Of course, it's also running on about a third of the horsepower, so that's to be expected...but still, I guess it's a UI thing too because even 1st gen iPhones had really smooth rotation...

Short answer- I have no idea! ;)

Lol :)
I think the delay is deliberate and not a hardware limitation. The app on my old Nokia (out at same time as iphone 1) let you adjust the delay and it could react faster than this. Think it let you set the angle where its triggered and the delay. Id like something like that. Im wondering how "deep" the function is on android..

I seem to remember being able to adjust stuff like that when I was using Cyanogenmod on my Desire. But I might just be imagining it... :)

Cool if thats right then its something thats modifiable :) i should really do a proper search lol, im a lazy lazy man

I bet it's something deep inside the gyroscope calibration settings. Mere mortals are not allowed to see such things.

There would have to be built in delays for the rotation or else the screen would never stop moving. I see how the thing trains me to settle in a vertical or horizontal hold instead of something in between...

Yeah but id like if it was set to not change until its nearly horisontal/vertical and then change instantly

Thanks for bringing this up. Although I wasn't really concerned about the rotate speed, I didn't know about the Dev settings to speed up animations. Switching those to .5 made my phone run even faster than before doing certain tasks...cool!

Fasten your seat belt then change them both to 0.
