Root Make SD Into Internal Mem, Detailed ms323

nono non

Newbie
First of all credits for this method go to Wadja1: You can find the original guide here: http://androidforums.com/threads/make-sd-card-as-internal-memory.887942/

This is a more detailed guide for those of you who had trouble doing the mod using Wadja1's guide. This guide also uses a slightly different method.

Note before you begin: This is only a temporary fix, until we get access to Lollipop on this phone. Also your phone may freeze crash from time to time this is normal DO NOT PANIC.

What you'll need:
1. Mini tool Partition Wizard
2. The three attached files in Wadja1's thread here is the link once again in case you missed it: http://androidforums.com/threads/make-sd-card-as-internal-memory.887942/
3. An External SD card. (I am using a SandDisk 32gb Micro SD HC I, Class 10 Ultra)
*There are some rumors that a 64gb SD card can be used on this phone*
** Also the more memory the better, I lost 3gigs of data from sd card when I did this mod, I'm sure i'll get it back if I reformat my SD card but just letting you know in advanced**
4. SDCard Booster - by Gejos
5. Ancleaner, cleaner for Android - by Serial MMF
6. Most Importantly an Unlocked Boot Loader
7. TWRP - You can get that here:
*There is an easier way to install TWRP using the Lg Multi-Tool, the multi-tool can also be used to unlock your boot loader*
** To Unlock Bootloader with LG-Multi Tool use the "Z" option, to install TWRP while your device is on use the "g" option"**
*** The multi-tool *** (Credits to sammyz and everyone else he thanks in his thread)
8. Rebooter app.

Setting Up: First and foremost your phone has to be both Rooted and have an unlocked Boot loader. If you already have a rooted phone with unlocked bootloader the next two sections do not apply to you, skip to the third section.

Rooting Your Phone: First make sure your LG phone is on either software version ms32310a or ms32310b. To do this do the following:
1. Go to System Settings
2. Tap on the "General" Tab
3. Scroll all the way down, tap on "about phone"
4. In the about phone menu, scroll down and tap on "Software information" > Under software version make sure you have either of the two versions mentioned above.
5. If you have one of those two versions simply download towelroot by geohot, you can find this using google.
6. Download the apk > install > run> tap on "make it rain"
7. Congrats now you have a rooted phone - install rootchecker to make sure your phone is rooted, also install super SU.

Unlocking Your Bootloader: The simplest method to do this is by using the multi-tool once again here is the link if you missed it: The multi-tool can be found here:
1. Extract Multi-tool folder to your desktop.
2. Have your LG device plugged into your computer with USB debugging enabled. You can Enable USB debugging by going into developer options in your phone and ticking "Enable USB debugging" option. To enable Developer options on your android device go to System settings > General > about phone > Software Information > Tap on Build Number 5 times.
3. Open folder and double click on run.bat
*This recommended to avoid doing extra work. When unlocking your boot loader you will be asked if you want to install a custom recovery, if asked if you want to install custom recovery do so at this time* (before you run the program, download TWRP and rename it recovery.img. Put recovery.img inside the same folder as run.bat)
4. Follow the on screen instructions.
5. When you get to the menu screen choose option "Z" automated unlock. To choose the option type z into the command prompt and press enter.
6. Follow the on screen instructions.
7. Congrats your phone now has an unlocked boot loader.

Turn External SD Card into Internal Memory:

Formatting your SD card:
The easiest way to do this is by following this tutorial from youtube: tutorial here
** When formatting your SD card, make sure that you allocated the amount of memory you want to use as the internal memory as ext4, the rest goes into fat32.**
- For example: If you want 20gigs of internal memory allocate 20 gigs to ext4, and the rest on fat32.

1.After you finish formatting your sd card, put it back into your phone.
2.Make sure you have your phone plugged in as well.

Download the three files in Wadja1's thread: Put them in your Download's section of your phone.

Install Rebooter App: You can find this on the app store, this app is used to let you access recovery mode a lot easier.
1. Run rebooter and tap on "reboot into recovery mode"

In TWRP recovery: Once inside TWRP recovery menu do the following.
1. On the Main menu > tap on Mount > tap on "storage"> choose external storage
2. Go back to the main menu > go into settings > check "use rm -rf instead of formatting" option
3. Go back to the main menu > go to Wipe > Advanced > Wipe External SD
4. Go back to the main menu > go into settings > uncheck "use rm -rf instead of formatting" option
5. Go back to the main menu > install > navigate to your downloads section and install "DataonSD-copy.zip"
6. In the same menu > install "DataonSD-install.zip"
7. When you have finished installing both files, you can reboot your device and you are done.
**The "DataonSD-uninstall.zip" is only used to revert your sd card back to normal. You just downloaded it for if you messed up in the process.

You're not done yet: on your newly modded android device download, Ancleaner and SDcard booster.
1. First give Ancleaner a run. Once the app is done cleaning your system, exit out of it.
2. Run SDcard booster.
These last two steps are to help prevent your phone from randomly crashing. It will crash from time to time but these help a bit.

Enjoy!!! Post pictures of your newly modded internal memory =)

Almost every thread here says to use TWRP Recovery, what can I do if I already installed CWM? Or is the recovery for TWRP different that CWM (Rebooting to recovery).

its almost the same thing, just a friendlier UI.

In regards to what you can do, change to TWRP using the multi-tool. (link provided in guide)
Do the following:
1. download TWRP
2. rename it recovery.img
3. put it inside the multi-tool folder
4. Open up run.bat
5. Have your device plugged into computer with usb debugging on toggled ON.
6. type "g" on the command window once you get into the menu screen.
7. follow on screen instructions (if any)
8. reboot your device.
9. use rebooter app to go into recovery mode (at this point you should already have TWRP installed in your device).

If you bricked your phone on the process, follow this guide to flash your phone to factory default: - credits to twogbsd

did you try sdcard booster and gave ancleaner a try? Also, yes the phone is slower because you are running the system through the microsd, this is just a tempt fix until we can get android L on this phone.

@all, Hi this is nono non, this I am going to be using this account from now on, if you have any questions just message this account instead.

Well i have android L on my d320n (CyanogenMod 12.1). What would be recommended for me then if i have L ;)
Thanks. ATM im using Link2SD, but i want play to install directly to sd. :)

My dearest master developers :)

I'm just curious about the possible difference (speed and so on) between:

1. Repartition of system, internal and cache.

2. Internal to sd.

And

3. Link2sd.

???

I'm on ms323 with repartitioned system, so my internal is 2.56 GB, so I also wonder if (and why) the built in internal will still be there but not usable when on "internal to SD"? If I want to implement "internal to SD", is there any way I can make my built in internal usable, or will it be wasted?

Please, some good advice would be appreciated, thank you :)
