Make sure you are on Ebill or Summary Bill or you will be charged $1.99....Due to the recent fee information that's circulating I examined my bill extensively for the first time in the while and found this little nugget.

Detailed Bill Fee
Eff. 1/1/12, Sprint will charge a $1.99/mo/acct
Detailed Bill Fee for accounts receiving
detailed paper bill (eg. call length/type/times).
No fee for ebill or summary. Visit
sprint.com/mybilloptions (requires log-in or
register) to change bill. Detailed bill available
online for all accounts.

Means they send you an online bill, or you can view your summary bill when you login to the Sprint website and view your bill

I have my statement mailed to me but regularly check my summary bill online. I also pay my bill online. Thanks.

This is nothing new for companies. Many services with online access either charge to receive a paper bill or provide a discount for going paperless. I enrolled in eBill day one because it waives my bank's monthly fee.

What is Summary Bill?

I believe the paper bill that you receive is a summary bill,if it only lists the various charges & total amount of data & call minutes used,& not a detailed list of all calls made,w/minutes per each call,etc.....

Once upon a time, when I was w/T-MOBILE,I couldn't believe the 1st & subsequent paper bills that I received in the mail.It was practically a mini phone book in size & weight,w/details of each & every call that I made in the billing period.

Nice information to have on hand,I suppose,if you need proof of a call,etc.....,but,the 1st thought that came to my mind was WHAT A WASTE of money, resources, etc.....no wonder my bill was so high,to pay for crap such as this.

If the paper bill you're currently receiving is approximately 3-4 pages/pieces of paper,it's a summary bill & you shouldn't be charged for this.

If the charge appears on your bill,a call to C/S @ SPRINT is in order.

^^^This is a definition of a summary bill. It's still paper, but does not include the call details log. The log can still be printed from the online account(for the primary line). And I understand that other companies do this, I'm just trying to make people aware that sprint has started doing it. It's a $2 fee that can be avoided if you are aware. Of course Sprint does a poor job of making people aware, as I'm sure there is some slight profit for them. If only 250,000 customers received the detailed bill in the mail that's half a million in extra revenue per month. Just an example as I have no idea of the real stats.

THX for the heads up on the surcharge, any information concerning our monthly bills is a good thing. :)

I'm guessing the SPRINT surcharges are roughly the same for everyone here,(mine comes to $5.10/mo.)
From what is stated on the bill,in a nutshell, these charges are basically the cost of SPRINT's doing business being passed on to us.

In SPRINT's own words:

SPRINT SURCHARGES are rates we choose to collect from you to help defray costs imposed upon us.

Whatever..........
The surcharges would be a little easier to take if someone could explain(SPRINT REP out there?),in plain language,what/how these fees actually go toward paying for, other than another source of revenue.

These are the SPRINT SURCHARGES that appear on my bill:

FEDERAL-UNIV SERVICE ACCESS NON-LD

STATE-STATE COST RECOVERY FEE

STATE-STATE UNIV SERVICE ASSESSMENT

ADMINISTRATIVE CHARGE

REGULATORY CHARGE

These charges are separate from the Government Fees & Taxes, which SPRINT is required by law to collect from customers on behalf of the Government.
Mine seen relatively low compared to some others I've read/heard about ($4.81/mo).

I'm not so much complaining about the surcharges, but,a reasonable explanation as to what they cover would be nice.

Overall,I'm a very satisfied customer w/SPRINT service & products.
(9.5 out of 10).
My only wish/gripe is the MOTOROLA PHOTON 4G isn't 100% compatible w/the LAPDOCK 500,or for sale by SPRINT for that matter, but, that's a topic of discussion that belongs in another forum/thread............ :P

Yeah, I can remember a youtube video this girl put out way back when AT&T got the iphone. She had apparently asked for detailed billing, and her first month's bill came in a couple of boxes. Lots of texts, and she was like "Omg. I can't believe they sent this to me".
