I usually watch only a very small amount of YouTube channels, maybe 5 or something often. I get basically only recommended videos of that channel, and I get bored of it after a while and was wondering if there's a way to make it a little more diverse.

Hi :)

(Sorry, I can't help with the question: I don't watch any YouTube channels, and have never followed a "recommended" link that I can remember - I only ever go to YouTube for something specific, which I'd have chosen in advance, and have never actually logged in to it, so really know nothing about this).

What do you mean by making it more diverse? Are you looking to subscribe to channels with different content? Not quite sure what you mean :o

Well I recently started watching this channel called SciShow and I saw so many of its videos that now in recommend it basically only shows recommendations of content from that channel, but I get bored of only seeing that channel, and I don't know what directly to search to find something new, I'd rather have it in recommended.

"I'm bored... I want recommendations that are different and diverse....."

Someone posts some.... and tells you how to get other suggestions as well.

These things don't seem that interesting to me

well! excuse me for trying to help.

really... some people.......

What else was I supposed to say that didn't sound mean that would basically convert to 'I don't think those are interesting'

Like, all I said was a very light reply that was a lot nicer than it could have been, and you seemed to like start getting angry... 😐

Well it doesn't really matter. I guess I don't need to argue with you.

Here, maybe you'll get less upset with 'thanks, but those don't seem that interesting' or not, maybe that sounded stupid. See. I can't think of many more ways to make it sound less 'mean'

Sorry, I guess I was getting a little worked up too. I guess because you seemed kind of mean to a very neutral reply, which I still don't understand. But sorry anyway?

Sorry I made it sound how it did
You can slap me now 😞

That last approach would have been better: "Thanks, but I was looking for something a bit different" is sort of polite and positive way of saying that you'd like different suggestions, though it does raise the question "what sort of thing interests you?" (which would be useful information when asking for suggestions). "Those don't seem that interesting" does come across as dismissive at best.

Tone is a very difficult thing to convey when we only have written text, without expression or vocal inflection, which is why it's easy to cause offence without meaning to in a text-only discussion like this. We've all done this at some time or other.

Edit: and I see that while I was writing this you've posted half a dozen comments! Sorry, cross posting. ;)

As @psionandy replied, if you sub to some other channel that interests you, other recommendations will show up.
For example, I love to watch about car detailing, plumbing, dash cam videos, self defense, etc....so once I search for something like those, I watch them and subscribe. Next thing I know, YouTube auto recommends similar channels that interest me.

What interests you? Search for it on youtube, find numerous channels about it, subscribe to a channel, and some recommendations will pop up :D

Perhaps we can help you find what interests ya :D Got some ideas?

I did subscribe to Phandroid and watch two of his videos, but recommendations really haven't changed
