making a decision

whats up guys, i'm eligible for an upgrade with ATT and don't want to pay anything toward a new phone. I'm already behind the times with my iphone 3G 3.2 OS i believe. I guess i'll pick up either an aria or xperia x10. Which would you all recommend? I want more of a unique menu as opposed to apple's normal scroll through your apps menu. I use my phone for more technical/quick knowledge stuff rather than pointless fun stuff. I know they are both older phones so which phone has more promise and support looking toward the future? thanks for the help.

edit- by comparing the specs side by side, the sony seems more ideal. However the aria has the newer software so that goes a long way

I recently picked a HTC Legend up, second hand at about the same price as an X10. I'm very happy with the HTC user interface, and were happy to find out that I can update the device to android 2.2. Maybe not the answer you were looking for, but nonetheless an input

I would go with the Sony. The for the extra processing power alone. You can root and upgrade the OS and most the extras you get with HTC sense can be found on the market as well.

SE X10 is much more capable than Aria/Legend. Besides, the X10 is going to be updated to Android v2.3 in summer.
Alternatively, you could get a more modern phone (X10 is already 1 year old phone).

well, I picked up the x10 off att.com and within 20 minutes of owning it i brought it an att store and swapped it for the inspire. I couldn't get it to update its OS and didn't really want to bother. Thanks to radioshacks advertised $50 inspire, I was able to get ATT to price match. I'm very happy with the inspire, it's amazing.
