Making the jump!

Kazoom

Lurker
So this past weekend I was recording a video from my iPhone 4 on a tripod. I was switching angles and had everything steady, I turned around for 2 seconds and suddenly hear a CRAAAAAAAAASH....No....I turn back around to find my iPhone completely shattered.

I jounried to the apple store were they told me it would be $200 to fix!? No thanks, I didn't want to spend another $100 from third party places to fix it either because my contract is going to be up in the summer so why spend another $100 on this phone??

I went to ATT were they told me they might be able to let me upgrade now and sign a new 2yr contract price if I get any phone but an iPhone. So on Tuesday I. .AM. MAKING. THE JUMP... I have decided to go with the new Galaxy S 2 HOWEVER before I get it I need to find out somethings:

1: Does anybody know where it can be purchased for any less then $150 thats the cheapest i've found it and in like 4 months I know it's going to end up free :p

2. When I was playing with it in store I found no way to record a video from the front camera? I probably will never need to but is there a way?

3.I'm confused does it have like video/HDMI out?? Is the port combined with the charging one?

4. Does it have NFC or not??? I keep hearing different things.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out I'm pretty excited about this phone!

1) No clue if it is cheaper. I just bought one for $200

2) Yes you can, you click the button in the top right and select self recording

3) The charging port is a micro usb, so you have to buy a micro usb to HDMI cable

4) The AT&T version does not, the T-Mobile and Verizon versions do.

Okay so the micro USB to HDMI does NOT come with it?? How good is the quality when it shows on the tv btw?

Wait what I thought Verizon doesn't even have the galaxy S 2? I heard the att verison does have NFC there is just no code or anything to run it right now?

No the cable doesn't come with it. And I'm not sure how good the quality is because I don't have one.

When I said Verizon I meant to say sprint. Verizon doesn't have one. And you might be correct about the phone having the capability but the network not allowing it yet. I'm not sure and it doesn't matter to me. I live in a city that won't have NFC for a long time.

It's an MHL port, and you need to get an adapter. T-Mobile has a good price on them.

MHL accepts a micro USB cable for data and charging, but you need the USB powered adapter for HDMI out.

Those weak machines always have problems. However, I love trying different devices. It makes me feel getting to know more about the details. You know, many people telling you which is better, blablabla. Just enjoy your excitment.

$150 bucks for it is a damn good deal IMHO. Go for it. I would if I could, but Verizon doesn't have it :(

And I have no idea on the ports thingys... if I need to put something on my computer from my phone I use the charging cable which connects to my computer as well or email it to my self :P (I have the SG1 btw, Samsung Fascinate)
