Malware & Anti Virus Help

KazWfS1

Newbie
I'm a little concerned and confused about virus's and malware for my HTC wildfire s.

Should I be putting an anti virus/malware software on my phone? or are there apps for these.
What concerns me the most is that I'v read that you can get these from all sorts of places even the most respected and legitimate places.

What can I do about this?

There are more and more news articles about malware in the Android market. Everytime I uninstall lookout a new article comes out.

I'm keeping it this time, just to be on the safer side. It doesn't take any extra resources as some who have never used it might tell you. If lookout is running and you have command like access, you can run top and see that it is at the bottom of the list with regard to cpu usage.

I use Lookout and it works well. You can use the free or paid version. There are other free alternatives as well. I installed Lookout the first day I got my phone, paid for it, and never looked back. Better safe than sorry. :)

Now Look at that! first two replies to my query and both saying and recommending a mobile security called ''Lookout'' what are the odds on that happening? so I'm going to try what seems to be a little gem it will be my first app and from the sound of it, it's just what the doctor ordered.
First I'm going to take a look at what's different in the Free and paid versions, wish me luck and thanks for the help pool and Trek much appreciated, I knew this was the right place to be.
Now all I need is to sort out my email problem wonder if I have any replies on that yet

The paid version gives you privacy advisor which analyzes apps and what permissions they need, gives you a better backup function and device wipe.

What email issues?

Which email app? In gmail you can go to accounts and tell gmail not to sync. In the email app set fetch to manual.
