Manage incoming SMS from computer

My Company issued phone is HTC Once with Verizon services. Love the phone and services so far. Part of my job responsibilities involve reaction to SMS messages sent from the company dispatch. This is the same call out technique that is used with pager devices but now all communication is combined on one device. Very nice.

The SMS messages that are sent from a computer to my cell phone do not have a consistent sender name or ID. This is the same thing that happens when you wireless carrier sends you automated messages. The sender ID is a series of numbers that are never the same.

My question is: is there a way to recognizing when message from these sources are coming to my phone. I would really like to give these messages a different ring tone from all other incoming text messages.

thanks

Is there a limit to the sender ID's? Like 5 or 10 specific numbers or is it always random? If there is a limit, setup all the numbers under one contact and setup that contact with an incoming SMS sounds.

If not, you could setup all of your contacts with their own sounds or at least a common sound. Then set the default to another and whenever you heard the default it would be your work or a completely unknown number.

I do not believe there is a limit to the numbers that are generated. I only can say this frm observation and assumption. I do not know where the numbers are assigned. let me pose my question in different context.

Let say I subscribe to a service on ESPN or something. I have this website providing SMS messages. At the same time my company uses email to text my next work order. Pretend I am a tow truck driver and this is the method of dispatch.

Now it would be very handy to have messages from these different sources play different ringtones. I am searching for some way to accomplish this. There seem to be many cool SMS apps but none of them advertise a method to separate, capture or identify incoming text messages from these "computer" services.

Do the messages perhaps begin with a common prefix, or at least contain the same words?

If so, you could probably set up some Tasker magickery to check all incoming messages for those keyword(s) and sound a different alert tone for the ones that meet that condition.
