Managing Joined Contacts

I'm using joined contacts to list data for all members of a family (living together) on a single contact. I've had problems before from updating information for one member but not another. The problem with using joined contacts this way is that I need to go into Edit to find out which mobile (or work) number belongs to which family member. (The same is true with birthdays & email addresses. Also annoying that anniversary appears to be always duplicated if it's recorded for both contacts-even when it's the same date.) Is there a way to either 1) manage the sequence in which individual data appears or 2) display names beside the data?

Thanks.

In stock Android 4.3 (and earlier versions I believe), while editing the contact, tap on the "type" label next to a phone number (i.e. mobile, work, home, etc.) and scroll down to "custom" and select it. You should then be able to enter any name you want and have it appear next to that number.

You may be able to do this for other fields (dates, addresses) too.

Sounds clumsy but I'll give it a try. Hopefully Custom Events will still show up on the Calendar. And then there's the question whether Custom birthdays will sync back into my Thunderbird addressbook & show up in the Lightning calendar. (Anniversaries don't show in Thunderbird at all any more. That addon needs to be updated-or else I need to roll back my version of Thunderbird.)

Oh well, nothing's prefect. Thanks.
