managing multiple email accounts

I just got a new LG G3.

I have a work email, gmail, and college email.
I can set them all up in the G3 email app, but I would like three separate email icons for each account...or at a minimum I would like a separate icon for work email.

Right now I look at the email app, and see the number of new emails. I want to know if they are work related at a glance (and thus high priority). I don't want to check my email every minute only to find spam from one of my personal email accounts.

What are people doing to manage this?

I appreciate the help and advice.

Kurt

I use the Gmail app for my personal Gmail email and the G3's email app for my work Exchange email. Not sure what I would do to manage another email account, though.

Does your gmail app show a number that represents your new (unread emails)? Mine isn't doing that, and I can't figure out how to make it happen.

I've used the Enhanced Email app for years and love it. You can setup multiple email accounts, and have a different icon color for each account, as well as a different color in the notification bar and a different announcement sound for each account. I use a red envelope for business emails (hi priority) and green for personal. It works very well. It's not free, but I don't remember it being expensive.

Okay thank you. I will check it out!

Enhanced Email is very good, I used it quite a while. Unfortunately, EE has been sold to Boxer, a popular iOS email client, and is no longer being developed. So, though it is still available I just cannot recommend EE anymore.

After fooling around with several other email clients, I switched to AquaMail. It is *extremely* flexible and configurable, fast and stable, and under very active development with good support by the developers. Easily handles any type of account including Exchange. It will do what you want with notifications. AquaMail Pro key is only $5.

This makes me sad, as the support was always fantastic. I'm setup pretty well with EE, so hopefully I don't need any support. If I do, I'll look into AquaMail. thanks for the heads-up!

I really like "Cloud Magic" it works for every type of email. Super fast, nice modern UI, it's widely credited as the best. They've won a Webby and several other design awards. I use six accounts very easily with Cloud Magic.

I found this site looking for a similar solution, which is how I had it set up on my Razr Maxx before upgrading to the G3. Shortly after I found this thread I discovered how to do exactly what I, and the OP, desired.

To create an icon for each individual email account you have setup on the phone simply add the "Select email acct..." widget to any screen.

Hope this helps.

I found an app called CloudMagic, free. It manages my outlook, 2 gmail, yahoo with a hotmail acct too. I can view all separately or combine. Notifs work fine. I've really got to pair them down to three just for Sanity's sake.

I used Cloud Magic on my DNA, and generally liked it. However, I absolutely loathe conversation view, and there's no way to turn that off in Cloud Magic when using Exchange. That ended up bring a deal breaker for me.

Well it is common to have several email accounts for personal and professional use, but checking them simultaneously in different places is certainly tedious. Hence, users generally look for an app to manage all their mail from one place. Email apps save time and remain convenient to manage accounts on one platform. Apps like Mailwise http://www.uptomark.com/mailwise-a-wise-selection-for-email-management/ makes it quite an easy task to manage several email accounts such as AOL, Gmail, Exchange etc. in an integrated inbox and showing separate arrangement for each account. Users will continuously receive updates of every email or message they receive and experience clutter free conversation.

Mailwise is a nice email client, but does have some security concerns. See:

My favorite is AquaMail. Simple, intuitive UI. Highly configurable with lotsa options. And I mean lotsa of options.

It has a unique feature called the Smart Folder, which makes AquaMail particularly useful for consolidating multiple accounts in one place. It's basically a unified inbox but configurable so that it becomes much more. The Smart Folder can display in a single list all the email in selected folders from all or only selected accounts. No need to select an account then a folder to see email you most often want to see, all selected folders are displayed in a single list. In Settings, you pick the folders you want included in the Smart Folder, and whether you want to see read, unread, or both.

For example, you may want Account A to show only its Inbox in the Smart Folder, but for Accounts B & C to show the folders Inbox, High priority and Sent folder in the Smart folder. You can do that. You can even have a combined Drafts folder in the Smart Folder.

A terrific piece of software, one of the very best apps of any kind available for Android.

I have a suggestion here - and it may provide useful for some. My issue is that I have multiple businesses and I have way too may email accounts. Most are Gmail accounts but some are business accounts with my company domain as the email address (i.e. darren.kahn@mycompany.com). For my primary email - the one I use most - I use the email icon on my Note 4 - loaded that email address - and then I changed the name of the icon from the standard "Email" to a custom name "Work Email" using QuickShortcutMaker app available in the Play Store. This app allows you to change the name of any icon on your Android phone. Download the app and if you get stuck... Google it as there are a few tutorials out there that are useful.

For my Gmail accounts - I just started using the app Unread Badge - I got the pro version for a few bucks. This app is also available in the Play Store and allows you to segregate Gmail accounts into separate icons where you can choose icon style, color and name. So each of your Gmail accounts will have it's own icon, color and label - it shows the number of emails in each account - and best of all, notifies you when new emails arrive.

To separate my other non-Gmail accounts - other than my primary business account which is the email icon (client) that came standard on the Note 4 - I put one account in CloudMagic, another in TypeMail, one in Outlook app - and I labeled them all with a custom label using the QuickShortcutMaker.

That is how I did it - and I have over 20 email addresses I manage for my 4 brick & mortar businesses, all my online store websites, my internet marketing biz and my import/export company. I hope that helps y'all. Thanks so much!

Congratulations on your first post!

If that setup works for you and you're happy with it, then fine. Obviously, you put quite a bit of effort into getting things like you want. But a really capable email client like AquaMail could seriously simplify things. You could have everything in one place, all sorted, accounts and much more all color-coded, labled, etc. One icon - tap it, and everything is a tap or two away, with each account configured to suit. Put your company logos and website links in signatures, etc etc.

Also, the email clients you're using have security concerns. As I posted earlier, please see this:

Email - which apps keep it private

Totally makes sense and that is exactly how I used to have my emails setup... all in the same email location. I actually wanted each Gmail account to have it's own icon so it is the only email in each. As for the various clients... currently testing all of them to see which I like best. I will heed your advice now however... thanks for the heads up.
