Hello.:)

Would u please help me. This is 1st time i am using an Android phone.

I transfered my text msges from my old phone to my new phone using Bluetooth.

But the msges on my new phone are all sorted by time of the day rather than date and time.

Eg, msges received 2:15pm one year ago are incorrectly shown before msges received 3pm today !!

How do I correct the sorting?

Many thanks :)

Was the old phone an Android device?
Hello pupkact:) Thanks for the reply.

No, the old phone was not an Android device. (It was a MotoRAZR V3xx).

I can understand why the msges are not threaded properly because they were transferred across from a non-Android device. But I would have thought the date/time sorting should still be correct since all the relevant date/time info are there.

OK, let me dig a little. I'm not sure if I can find a solution, but I'll try. You probably won't hear from me until tomorrow though.

I am on a very different timezone half a world away in Australia. I will probably be sleeping when you reply. So please take your time.

I've done some Google searches and it looks like Moto is soon to release Motorola Phone Tools 5.0 (Motorola Phones Tools 5.0 - SPECS - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA) which would allow you to back up your messages in an XML file for import into an Android device. There is a version 4.0 Mobile Phone Tools floating around for $14 at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Mobile-Phones-Retail-Packaging/dp/B000EYTBOS) which looks like the same thing. I am going to keep hunting for a legit free solution though.

As I typed this, something occureed to me, did you receive a CD with the phone (and the off chance you kept it). You may have the software already.

I hope this helps.:)

Thanks very much for the research pupkact :)

I would much prefer not having to pay for this. Would be great if you could find a free solution. Much appreciated :)

Yes I did get a CD with the phone, and it should still be sitting in the box with the other things such as cables, etc. But unfortunately I can't find the box:mad: .... sigh

(PS. But I really find it a bit odd that we would need a tool for this because all the date/time info is already there. Why would Android fail to recognize the info???) hmmm

It could be a formatting / field mapping issue. That is what I am trying to find is a way to export them to a csv / xml file so I can compare it to an Android XML file.

Good point.

I originally assumed the messages were stored in the simcard. But of course they are not, and therefore the format, etc could be machine-dependent. Good thinking :)

Ok, good night :o
