Help Mandatory voicemail update?

jeffreymo

Lurker
I keep getting a message that a mandatory update is now available, but when I try to download it, I get a message stating "general failure. Please try again later." The phone is rooted, and I assume that this is what is causing the failure. So my questions are, what happens if I do not download the update, and what can I do to stop recieving the message? it seems to pop up everytime I recieve a text.
TIA.

idk what happens if you don't dl it, but i'm rooted and running custom stuff, and i was able to upgrade just fine. maybe just try again, and it'll work. i think the only thing the upgrade does is add the ability to add the msg transcribe feature that sprint is trying to push, but i use google voice, so i already get that, for free. fail on your part sprint.

Try to download over the WiFi. It sounds like your device data session is not working on 3G.

The di06 and di07 updates have come down that way and you're right you can't get them when you're rooted. You can manually get part of it though if you go into 'check for updates' and let it complete. Usually once it fails it stops bugging you though. Weird.

It will not install once it is downloaded for me, but I am still on 1.5. Does anyone know how to install this, or stop Sprint from continually sending notification about upgrade?

Rooted. General failure with everything I've tried. Heading to xda to see if somebody has an answer or workaround. When will these providers realize that WE own our phones?
