Manually copy files from Non-Rooted phone with mostly unresponsive display

Hey guys!

I have this Motorola Droid (A885) that has a display that is MOSTLY unresponsive. I can barely unlocked it, and the Home and Search tactile "buttons" do not work whatsoever. So if I open an App to do something, I am stuck in it until the phone is restarted.

I am trying to copy the entire contents of the phone in a legible format, if possible, to a Mac (running macOS Mojave) or to a PC computer running Windows 7.

I installed ADB on my Mac and I can use the "adb devices" to display the phone. I know it's connected and I am able to access the micro SD card via USB storage mode.

NOTES:
- I am not sure what version the phone is on, I think it is 2.x something
- All of the QWERTY buttons work
- Debugging mode is on
- USB storage mode can be turned on
- Home and Seach 'tactile' buttons don't work
- I can use adb commands via Terminal on the mac, I don't know how to do it on the windows 7 machine

I JUST want the messages off the phone if possible from an app called Handcent and my normal SMS app.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

If your Droid supports OTG, you can use a computer mouse instead of the touche screen.
