Manually Update to RC33

Worked well for me also.
One thing to note just so no one is caught off guard...(although i'm sure everyone would figure it out)
8)press menu+L to see the script running
9)When the update is finished press home+back to reboot
10)On reboot you'll see an icon of a eprom with a big rounded yellow arrow
11) phone will reboot on its own
12) reboot might take longer than normal.

Here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/2nzzn4yzmte/signed-PLAT-RC33-from-RC30.f06aa9b3.zip

USA only... At least thats what I've heard.

Directions:
1) Rename the file to update.zip
2) Put update.zip on your SD Card, not in any folders!
3) Turn off G1
4) Hold the Home button(House) and then as you continue to press the Home button turn it on... Keep the home button down!
5) Once you see a Exclamation icon release the home button.
6) Open the keyboard and press Alt+S
7) Watch it work its magic.

arggg.... what am i doing wrong  the phone doesnt have to be unlocked or anything right? i got mine direct from tmo.

Works great.

I didnt have to press any buttons after the Alt-S to start it.

Also, the final reboot, where the Android dude flashes, it takes a long time. Took like 4 minutes or so. Don't fret and turn it off. Just let it go. Eventually it should just be booted up.

Has anyone done this on a dev phone yet?

I think this was part of my problem. I was using the dev firmware. I hit Alt-L before Alt-S so I could see the output of the upgrade attempt. It told me that the signature of the update was invalid. No idea what I can do about that.

Followed instructions and it worked fine the first time.

That final reboot before you can use the phone again does take a looooooong time though. I was just starting to think something had gone horribly awry, but no. Just be patient.

The official T-Mobile timeline indicates that all G1 customers will have the OTA sent to them by the 16th at the latest.

Followed all instructions - phone is not root - verified through file manager on the phone that the name is correct at update.zip

Downloaded the file again ... seeing now that the file is 0 bytes - seeing also that someone else had to use a download manager in order to get the file to DL correctly.

Going that route and will report back

(make sure you update.zip file is not 0 bytes?)

Using Win7 + FF3 - may tray to DL in IE ...

EDIT:

I'm seeing now that when DLing the file from media fire the file is getting some of the way and then just completing (some times at 0 bytes sometime at 3 or 8 megs) this is the issue ... Looks like a DL Manager is needed?
