Maps updates inconsistently while driving

Tough to describe but my S8 was working great with maps till recently. Now it updates your location only after several seconds of driving. I've got high accuracy on GPS and on AT&T. If I just turn Maps on it sees my location correctly at home but driving has become near impossible. It also orients the map itself incorrectly. Anyone fix an issue like this before ?

Can you calibrate your GPS? I had that issue and calibrating the GPS fixed it. I can't remember where the option in Google maps is but if you can find it you wolf be set.
