Market application

Hello everyone, i have just finished my new project "Rehab market" after long days, i have been working on this project for nearly 4 months, i really need your opinions, so if you have any comment on the design or the functionally, i'll be glad to listen,

What is Rehab Market?
As the name suggests, it's a market application, where you can do shopping without a single step.

How can it be useful?
If you a market owner, you can:
  • Upload your products
  • Receive orders from clients
  • Send your reply about the received orders
  • Get paid online via PayPal
If you a client, you can:
  • Pick up your needs
  • Send orders, including your address
  • Pay in-cash or online
What technologies did you use?
  • It's my first try with Kotlin,
  • I used the modern Hilt library,
  • I used Android Architecture Components(e.g Room db, Navigation components, MVVM architecture),
  • For the back-end i depended on Back4App which is really useful guys, if you need an alternative to Firebase, due to their updates that forced you to register in Google Cloud while my card is prepaid and they don't accept prepaid cards :mad:
  • I also used Retrofit to make calls to PayPal server

i am currently the only application admin meaning that i am only who can access certain functions, i am planning if i got positive feedback i'll generalise it to allow users to make their selves admins of their own markets

noun: rehab; plural noun: rehabs; noun: Rehab
A course of treatment for drug or alcohol dependence, typically at a residential facility, e.g. "He had to go into rehab for his heroin addiction."

Is that what your app is about? Because that's what the name suggests to me.

So I'm wondering what type of app is this?
Is it a "things to buy" app?
If so, the word "rehab" is not the appropriate choice for that.
Also, as soon as try to use the app it asks for your Gmail, Facebook, Etc. And I'm sorry but I'm not going forward with an app I have no idea what permissions it allows...
So to be blunt, sorry.
I will not be using your app.

No i appreciate your comment, first of all, rehab is an arabic word , and i am wondering where is the problem if it asks you for your g-mail account, it's like many apps allow you to login using your favorite website, the only permissions it needs to acquire are the network and the location

Yes that's becauee i was developping it with a specific market in my head whose name is "Rehab" , that inspired me what owners and clients will need to be included

ok maybe you should state that so there is no confusion for people in other parts of the world. so does this app work in the US?

and i am correct in that the app is for shopping for fridges and kitchen accessories?

Yeah, and "fatwa" and "jihad" are Arabic words as well. But here's the thing, if you're trying to sell your "Rehab Market" app to an English speaking population, e.g. the US, the UK, etc. Do you really want your potential customers conjuring up images of drug-addicts/junkies and alcoholics?

FYI in English "rehab" is a colloquial abbreviation of "rehabilitation".

I'm reminded of the story of the Chevy Nova, But "nova" in Spanish means "doesn't go". Which is not a good name for a car in Spanish speaking countries, and resulted in poor sales for GM there.

Hey, why did you pick "fatwa" and "jihad" as examples?!! How do you actually understand these words?! Please, as yoy advising me about choosing the good words, you shouldn't have chosen these words as an example

Yes I do. But I presume you didn't know the meaning of "rehab" in English. This is something very important, especially when marketing your products to an international audience. Choosing a good and attractive name in the language of your chosen market.

FWIW the word "rehab" does have an extra meaning for me, as I used to work in a YMCA, and we occasionally referred unfortunate souls to rehabilitation clinics. Also I'm an English teacher in China, and I'm often asked about business English and marketing.
