my market was working fine until recently... i tried to download an app (goal.com) and it got stuck at "starting download"... now whenever i open the market this app starts downloading automatically but never finishes.. its soo annoying, plus now i cant download other apps as well.. i tried clearing the cache, i even uninstalled the market update n rebooted but i cant get rid of that app which keeps popping up in my status bar!!!

Try this first as it is the easiest:

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Applications.
3. Select Manage Applications.
4. Select Market (You may have to press Menu > Filter > All to see it)
5. Select Clear cache.
6. Back out of the screen and select Download Manager.
7. Select Clear data.
8. Also clear data for Google Apps, Google Talk, and Checkin Service.
See if downloading from the Android Market works now.

I had this problem about a month ago and remember fixing it by running 2 lines of code in the terminal emulator. I can't remember what they were but I'll try to find them incase the above steps don't work.

hi all,
I had a problem with my xperia x10 (2nd one). I just cannot setup the google email in this handset. So I cannot use market...
I will try to do the steps youy describe below, i let you know if it works

Everytime I installed a new ROM of flashed my phone, I had to use Wifi to "login" with the Google Apps for the first time, for some reason it never works over 3G.

What if you can't clear none of the Google account stuff. It's just not in the Manage Applications settings.
I've already tried to reset the phone, change Google accounts. Nothing helped. The downloads just keep stacking up with the red circle in the top left screen indicating the number of apps waiting to be downloaded.
