Market Force Closing

I'm using an old droid eris running on 2.1 and every time I try to open the market app i get the message, "the application market(process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" I've tried to do a hard reset, clear cache off the market app and it still won't work. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks

I realize that you said that you did a "Hard Reset," but did you do a Factory Reset? The one where it actually reloads the OS. If not, you may want to try that. That will put you back to "Out of the Box" condition, which should have a working copy of Market.

Going to agree with Gonzo. Hard Reset just forces the phone to reboot, whereas a factory reset will set you back to brand new. Factory resets can often times fix corrupted files, which sounds like what you're experiencing with the Play Store.

Before factory resetting your phone, be sure to backup any important documents, pictures etc.
