Market/Google Play notifications

Is there some way that I can have Google Play notify me when there are updates to my apps, but NOT notify me with ads for apps I haven't downloaded? I'm tired of getting "King Pirate" ads.
 
Sounds like something getting "air pushed" from a specific app. The Market doesn't advertise other than letting you know when updates are ready (or on their site directly). Download THIS and see if it identifies anything.
 
I was getting similar as well on both my phone and tablet. Ad Detector did not report any apps so thought it may be a new google thing as it seemed to coincide with introduction of google play. However noticed thread on another forum that pointed out the add was always for a game from the same developer "letang". I searched for letang on google play and noticed I had installed Mission Impossible Free on my phone and tablet. I have just uninstalled and hopefully the ads will now disappear. Looks like letang is using an ad mechanism not being picked up by ad detector.

I'm now off to leave some negative feedback on MI free so hopefully Letang gets the message.

That's exactly the app that I believe was causing me to get ads also! I uninstalled it, and the ads have stopped.
