Root Market/Phone ID Problem

InfernalByte

Android Expert
After Upgrading last week to a new MIUI I was told by TU (Titanium Back Up) that my phone's ID has changed and I should change it back so that market links will survive. All was good. That Muiu was a little laggy. Today I have upgraded to a newer flavour MIUI, TU tells me the same about the change of ID, but now which ever option I choose, old or new ID, my apps don't show as a purchase any more.

How do I get my ID back?

I don't know the answer, but what's curious is that I had the same message yesterday, and I hadn't even changed ROMs. What I had done was backed-up, done a factory reset, then (selectively) restored apps and data from Ti. I tried this because the phone was becoming laggier, and I wondered whether a clean out would help (answer: marginally).

In my case it was like your first experience: I let Ti restore the ID, and things worked. I've never seen this before, but a web search turns up other references to android id changing after a factory reset. Maybe Google have changed something so that it's more important? Not been able to find much about it so far.

Have you tried restoring the previous one and then rebooting the phone?

I can restore from TI and and the apps work fine but the market link is now trashed and apps won't update. The phone needs more electricity before I restore the Nand. We shall see.....

Working now! :)

I don't know if this made any difference, but before downloading TI, I enabled USB debugging and enabled root permissions. I then changed the ID to the previous ID before rebooting.
