Help Market problem

The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly.


I can't download via Market. The above message ALWAYS comes up.
Phone is unrooted. I signed out from GTalk, cleared cache, rebooted, switched it off and on, set Network Mode to GSM only but no luck.

Any suggestions as to what else can I try short of Factory reset?
What causes this?

Market works now
I uninstalled updates

Setting>Applications>Manage Application> Market and click "Uninstall Updates".

Its a pretty big weakness in Andriod..that the single gateway to downloading all your apps is so unrelialable
