It's easy to inadvertently delete an icon from a home screen. If you open up your app drawer (usually the icon in the bottom center of the screen that looks like four squares) and look for the market app there, you can put it back on the home screen by pressing the icon and holding it until the home screen returns. Then just drag it where you want it.
