Marshmallow upgrade

Hi, I currenlty use lollipop on my Moto G. I ignored the choice to update to marshmallow. I have no wish to ever update to Marshmallow.
My question is, if in the future i wipe/reset the phone, will it still use lollipop or automatically update to marshmallow.
On a previous phone , I did update from kitkat to lollipop. When i erased the phone , I am sure it went straight to kitkat

I had the same concerns re: my Moto G 3rd gen 2015 but I upgraded to Marshmallow anyway and haven't looked back. No issues. The release from Motorola was several months after Marshmallow was released by other manufacturers. My confidence (possibly misguided) was high that the bugs were sorted out. The Moto G uses a near native version of Marshmallow that is recognized and appreciated by many users for its simplicity and reduced memory and processor burden. I also think you get a new version of Moto Display with Marshmallow also which includes a very battery-friendly display feature that also reduces wear and tear on the power button to near zero (one of my own concerns). This may have been available in Kit Kat but I don't think so. I can't speak to wiping and resetting the phone.

If you don't upgrade then after resetting the phone will still have Lollipop.

But if you do install Marshmallow then resetting the phone will give you Marshmallow.

Thanks Mart48, it is tempting to update, I especially like the idea of the battery saving deep sleep mode. However i am extremely happy with my phone. My thought is, if it's not broken, don't fix it.Cheers

FYI... The Moto G 2015 does not support Doze mode in Marshmallow, all other factors the same, the battery life of Lollipop vs Marshmallow on this device is nearly identical.

Well that extremely useful to know. Many thanks for that. It would have been the only reason I would have considered upgrading. I seriously appreciate that
