Marshmallow

I ended up getting MM on my Metro Stylo by doing this, for what it's worth. Like a few others I flash the stock T-Mobile 10J then immediately received the OTA update for the 10L. Waited and waited and waited for MM, constantly hitting that check for updates button =p. Tried LG Bridge which only wanted to take me back to 10J, not even to the 10L that I'm on.

Finally I attempted to boot into recovery, which I couldn't get to. Only the option to reset the device was available so I did. After the reset I setup the phone again and MM was immediately waiting for me to download. It was not there prior to doing the reset.

could you explain how you flashed 10j? im looking at this post here http://androidforums.com/threads/rom-lg-g-stylo-h631-ms631-v10j-stock-restore.949196/

where it says download bootstack zip tmobile users click here, metro users click here

should i click for tmobile even though my phone is metro?

and where it says download return2stock zip tmobile users click here, metro users click here

i should definitely click tmobile right?

im confused...i should probably just wait for someone to hopefully make a flashable zip for us metro users...

Getting marshmallow was easier than I thought ^_^ maybe because I'm already on T-Mobile I just flashed Draken's return to stock rom then disable automatic time and changed my time to 11pm (credits to who said to disable automatic time) got the first update, restarted my phone and received MM update right after.

Where are people getting the T-Mobile KDZ from? None of the links I find are working for me.

Alright thanks for confirming, I'm on Metro but I want to give Marshmallow a try.
Sounds good. I've successfully flashed the metro kdz on my tmo phone and it booted up fine. I'm back now on tmo 10l. And some advice to all, I would download the latest available kdz files to your computer in case any more links go down... just in case.

Definitely a good idea, and just for the record after using the 10i kdz I immediately got the ota to 10j and now waiting on the 10L to download automatically after setting time to after 11pm. This is pretty quick.

I wonder what would happen if a metro user flashed that lil t-mo update someone posted that was a wifi calling fix and had android pay built into it. If that would sneak metro user's into the next update for MM or anything at all. LoL! I'm half tempted to flash it and see what I get, but it seems like t-mo users had to accept that update before they got the MM update, so just by process of elimination, it's got me curious.

That's exactly what someone did on page 3 of this thread and what I'm doing right now. Currently on T-Mobile V10L waiting for the marshmallow OTA

I'm still on a metro 10J Rooted and Custom recovery though, that's what I meant for me, if a metro user flashed it threw custom recovery, if it's even made for custom recovery and was on the metro version, not going to t-mo version and flashing everything, but just that one small patch update.

Well it's not going to flash in TWRP

Man how long did it take you @NullaVisus? I've been waiting and checking and rechecking for the OTA and it seems like you got it immediately.

I have the metro version.

I would love to jump ahead with everyone Thats flashing tmo version to jump ahead.

Never has flashing a tmo update to a metro phone ( or the other way around) been a good idea until now. Lol

But seeing as how i dont have home internet or a laptop anymore (rip) ill probably just have to wait for metro to get off their asses and push our OTA.

Or if it becomes apparent that metro isn't gonna push it out im sure someone will have made a flashable version for metro users.

I do keep checking my ota religiously even though i know its not yet here.

I find it unacceptable though that the premium versions of the lg g stylo had to wait longest for the MM update. Thats terrible. The Sprint/boost etc (8gb rom 1gb ram) versions all got it first.
.thats crappy. The lg g stylo was metros second most expensive phone when i got it (f. Samsung!)

Ah well. Keep us updated guys!

Also...for tmo users who have MM....whats different ui wise? Is it the same? Any new wallpapers or live wallpapers?

How are the MM features working for you? (ie google now on tap. Doze...etc)

Any other new changes/improvements?

I can already say, there is no Doze according to Boost/VM Users and their version of MM and ours won't be anymore special, also no external storage as internal. But nobody ever listens and keeps thinking so, it's like LP with a handfull of MM features and LG Updated stuff and no essential MM stuff.

If that's the case, what's the point in upgrading if it's going to be Lollipop 2.0?

Radio.img. Probably to set the rollback counter. Kinda weird. The update only patched existing files on the ls770. It looks like it does the same here.

Status Update

Did the whole kdz to tmobile software deal, again on 10L and marshmallow didn't want to get to me, turned on airplane mode and checked again and it was finally there, not sure if coincidence or what but I'm updating now.

if you have recieved the update, please drop the boot.img system.img and recovery.img into a file hosting site and post them here or pm me with them. i'm trying to make this a twrp flashable zip for everyone.
unfortunately, the update-script mounts /system and uses patch tool to patch the system files individually. using this method takes way too long and makes it harder for things to work right (because there is more activity in the script), such as matching the md5 sum of a metro system app vs a t-mobile system app(they are also signed differently).

To pull the system.img and boot.img, open a terminal on the device or adb shell and run the following commands...

1. su
2. dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system of=/sdcard/system.img
3. dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/boot of=/sdcard/boot.img

Please post the system.img and boot.img
