Help Mass storage on Ubuntu

When I plug my N4 on my Windows computer at work, I can normally transfer files as a mass storage device. But when I plug it to my home computer running Ubuntu 12.04 it will only charge my phone. I did read somewhere that this is just available for Windows and Mac, but is it possible to install something on Ubuntu to enable this?

My immediate solution was installing Dropbox for file transfers, but it's not to good when I need to transfer heavier files like movies or large music playlists.

I guess the issue is that the N4 uses MTP (Media Transfer Protocol - a standard defined by Microsoft) rather than connect as external storage.

Given that Android is based on Linux, I image it is possible to find (Google is your friend) something that supports this for Ubuntu.

I did googled about it but found nothing. Maybe MTP could be a keyword for my search. Thanks for your help, I'll let you know if I manage to solve anything.
