Massive offline RPG

I'm in the market for a new RPG. I love the below games, but need a new one to play:

Raven sword 2,
Aarlon HD,
Earth and legend HD,
The bards tale 2,
Galaxy on fire 2 HD.

Just started Lesabel, which seems OK so far. I'm not into dungeon crawlers, they are too dark and boring for me, I like open space games. Plus I don't play MMORPG, don't have time for them.

So any recommendations? I cannot seem to find any ATM, it does not matter whether its a space adventure or classic RPG.

Morrowind is getting an unofficial port. Who knows when (or if) it'll ever be finished though.

Block Story is like if Minecraft was more RPG-focused.

Thanks OneEarth2.

I've avoided those Minecraft ports as most of the ones I've seen are either fake or plain just don't work. I'll have a look tho. :)

Morrowind sounds interesting. I would dearly love a Fallout 3 port!! I don't think the phones are quite there yet tho, maybe when we hit 4gb internal memory. :goofydroid:

Most Minecraft rip-offs are trash, I agree. Block Story is actually pretty good though, and it's a bit more organized and official looking than most voxel-based games.

Looking at the raw computing power of new processors like the Tegra K1 with Kepler ULP, or the Snapdragon 805 with Adreno 420, lower spec games like Fallout 3 really should be possible on the strongest phone hardware available right now, albeit at high-ish settings, not ultra.

Nvidia is even sponsoring some exclusive ports of older PC games like Half Life 2 for their Tegra K1 in the Shield Tablet. New mobile processors are about as powerful as the 360 or PS3, and comparable to a desktop Pentium with integrated HD 4400 graphics (if any Pentiums actually had HD 4400 graphics). Problem is, it's not profitable to make a game that only runs on the top 1% of devices, especially when most people using Android aren't willing to spend more than $5 for a game anyway. The current elite top-tier tech will need to be mainstream before we see a lot of ports.

Oh, there's also Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, but I think most people already know about those.

I agree with the computing power, but with low internal memory games like fallout 3 would not run well at all. I'm enjoying having 3gb memory, you can multi task finally without apps instantly closing.

I was tempted with the Nexus 9 with the K1 chipset, having come from a HOX+. But it seemed crippled with odd screen size and very low internal space. So I went with the Nexus 6 64gb.

Looking forward to some solid games coming our way tho.

The baldurs gate series does not appeal, dungeon crawling and too small for a phone screen, even 6 inches.

Raven sword 2 and earth and legend looks interesting..

The dev's have a new game out called Exiles which is a vast SciFi RPG. Looking at the reviews it would seem it needs a great deal of work, I believe a large update is in the works.

So one to keep an eye on!

Lesabel, seems very understated. I doubt you could play it on a small screen, nexus 6 to tablets only. There are a few areas that need tweaking, but it is a very solid RPG that once you have a grasp of the controls and confusing onscreen setup is rewarding.

There are some dungeon creeping, but not too much. Check it out.

Thanks Jay, I've seen exiles and been interested but haven't gotten it. I recently bought shadow run, which is A-mazing and worth every cent... If you have a tablet. No hope playing on a phone screen. If you haven't tried that and have a tablet, you should check it out

Same here. I'll wait a few update as yet to grab it. :)

Shadow run is a great port, I played it on my old HOX+ and didn't have an issue. I found the game a tad too limited, it feels like it should be larger than it is. But you are tightly restricted as to when and where you can go.

I like the character configuration, but you can change any of your characters into any class you like at any time which kind of killed the replay ability for me with the added restrictive movement. So just one run through and I felt I was finished.

Good news is the dev has started work on a completely new Shadow Run, sad thing is that it will be PC/Console only!

Did you try the stand alone dlc? Forgot the name of it (or is shadow run the name of the standalone and the first has a different name..?)

I just played the one on the play store?!

Another good RPG similar to Shadow Run is Cyberlords Arcology. Surprisingly additive and fun with that retro feel, I played from start to finish.

Shadow run returns and shadow run dragon fall, dragon fall is the expanded dlc version, has a updated interface and some additions to the class system. As well as a different campaign. Haven't heard of cyber Lords. I will look into it. Right now I'm stuck on rogue like games, been playing Cardinal Quest 2 and is so much fun! Best rogue like I've tried so far, lots of customization

Aaaaand my device is not compatible.. What does that mean, anyway? Do I not have the right android version? It doesn't say in play store what version it needs. Does it only work with certain processors or something?

They ported KotoR... And I didn't know?!? 0.0

The development and release were pretty much under the radar. First thing I heard about it was seeing it in the playstore.

OS required is Jellybean 4.1 or more recent. Below will give you list of compatible devices.

Seems opening the link doesn't bring the info up but just copy & paste into address bar and that will do the trick.

New guy here, but I got KOTOR working very nicely on my HP Touchpad, it has 4.4.2 ported over. The game runs as smooth as silk. I was pretty shocked to be honest. All I did was sideload, it was literally a breeze. If you have any sort of decent device, I'm sure it would work for you as well.

I'm enjoying Dark of the Demons at the moment. Will have to try Shadowrun, just hate to pay $7 for a game I dunno if I will enjoy...

Shadowrun is a good game, so long as you remember it is heavily scripted with no free roam or going back.
