Maxx HD texting question vs droid 4 keyboard

I had the regular razr maxx, and it was my first step away from the regular droids. I always loved the actual keyboards. So i gave it a shot, and no matter what i tried (swype, speech to text, stock virtual keyboard) texting was a painful process. I just couldnt use the virtual keyboards, so i went back to the Droid 4 (after using the 1, 2, 2Global, and 3). I knew battery issue was a concern, but the 4 is abysmal. I leave the gym in the am for work and am already down to 50% . Its stunningly awful, and i am aware we cant even exchange the battery. So im stuck.

Played with the HD for a few minutes today and with the bigger screen (i think) the texting seemed easier on the virtual. Does anyone have any feedback or gone through similar? Any opinions, thoughts, feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I came to the RazrHD from a Droid 3 and I have always been a fan of real keyboards for texting. I almost got the droid 4 but decided to take a leap and see how I would do with the virtual keyboard. It didn't take me long to get used to it, and I have no regrets.

Virtual keyboards are something you have to get used to.

Even if you never do, the autocorrect has evolved so much, it helps big time for those still getting used to it.

I'm with you on liking physical keyboards better, though. I wish they made something like the LG Versa, with the slim keyboard connected to the phone, that could be removed when necessary.

After two years of using Swype with the X, I had a lot of issues with it "remembering" things that i had entered once. for example, I'd enter "4am" and after that every time I'd type "4" it would add the "am". Drove me crazy. It would also always want to put a "u" in everything. Instead of "it" I'd get "out", for "pot" I'd get "put." The Maxx HD seems a little better.

Did you try Swiftkey? I'm good with Swype (love it...) but Swift will learn how and what you type. It's almost scary in its prediction. But install Swiftkey after you have a lot of text so it can learn your style. I'm sure there is a way to tell Swiftkey to "relearn" your txts..but I never figured it out. Since I'm a Swype fan, Swiftkey is just my backup keyboard.

Just left a D2G for Maxx HD. Had the same concerns as you. The physical keyboard was very nice especially for positioning the cursor for corrections. If I put the Maxx HD in landscape mode I'm almost as good as I was with a physical keyboard. You will get used to it.
