Maxx now or wait til ICS?

I have the Incredible now, and with each upgrade the phone becomes a little slower. I'm wondering if it's better to wait until later this year for the Maxx (when it actually ships with ICS), instead of getting the Maxx now and waiting for the ICS upgrade. Will the Maxx's performance suffer once the ICS update is released?

Excellent point, and I've certainly thought about this as well. I have the Incredible as well (not rooted), and I'm pretty certain that I'll be buying the Maxx pre-ICS. The Froyo and Gingerbread updates that I received went flawlessly so I don't have any bad experiences to keep me from just buying the Maxx ASAP and just getting the ICS update when it's rolled out.

Besides, coming from HTC and Sense, it'll give me plenty of time to really familiarize myself with the Maxx and all that Motorola has to offer. Then by the time ICS is served up, it'll hopefully go as smoothly as my previous updates have gone. In a nutshell, I don't want to be overwhelmed with having a new manufacturer, a new UI, and and new OS all at the same time!

I'm also using the incredible since it was released April 2010. I'm also contemplating whether to get the Maxx or wait for next gen phones with quad core cpus and more energy efficient LTE radios. But, my battery on the incredible is slowly dying and I have to constantly worry about charging it especially when I'm out on the weekends. Decisions.. decisions...

Go ahead- the UI and Smart Actions, the hardware, everything else are pretty good. I'm getting the same kind of battery life on my Razr that I was getting on my OG Droid before I upgraded. And I cannot tell you how much more a difference that new battery would make to any user. Anyone who is complaining about the new <2mm added thickness is a moron. Trading the space is worth it to get that battery.

Crazy idea... Get the MAXX now and enjoy the new phone/improvements/etc. Then, when the "new phone" wears off in a few months, they should be really close, if not already releasing ICS and it will be like having a new phone all over again. Essentially getting a new phone twice :)

It doesn't look like there are any other really brilliant phones coming out in the next couple of months, so I'm pretty thrilled with the RAZR actually.

Also, another point to note is that the RAZR and the MAXX both have identical software/updates. So... Considering there are 2 "sets" of phones out there, I'm leaning towards them getting ICS on the device a little faster than they would with other phones.
