If you have a problem with your Razr Maxx where you can connect to a wifi router BUT you can't get any data service, PLEASE join into this forum thread on the Motorola Forums and contribute so they can see this isn't exactly an isolated incident.

Quick summary, open free wifi, can connect but can't browse, get email, anything. Meanwhile every other device connected from iPads to Incredibles, Blackberries to Samsungs, tablets to iPhones, netbooks to laptops, absolutely everything connects and operates flawlessly. Several of us have Razr Maxx phones and they ALL do the same thing, connect but not data service.

Please visit this thread and pitch in if you have ever experienced this or think you can help.

Thanks!!!

Here is what I wrot to the link above. On 5/21 I upgraded from a Droid 2 to the new Razr Maxx. I am having the same issues as most with regards to wifi issues I see being posted. In my home network that worked fine with my old D2 and my wifes Droid X, it says Im connected with no data transfered allowed. On my WIFI status icon on my menu bar it flashed blue for a nano second and now stays grey. When I move around the house, the further from the router, the grey connection bars decrease and visa versa as if I am connected. No data transfer from google or any of my apps. I have a Netgear router and I went in and played with it as suggested and no luck (BTW..Im no expert but I do know enough to be dangerous lol). I went to a local known hot wifi spot that worked on my old phone and the same thing, says Im connected but grey bars and no data transfer. I also thought it was very odd that when I purchased the phone at a verizon dealer, the sales person was a bit surprised at my knowledge (Since I had been on my third replacement D2 and done set ups and troubleshooting with Verizon, Assurion and Motorola in the past) and suggested I could just go home to finish the set up after he activated it. I tried using their wifi and 4 G and commented to him that the signal was horrible in the store. He just shrugged his shoulders. Due to time restraints I did end up going home to set it up with a full 4G connection. So far I am very pleased with the upgrade except for this issue with wifi connectivity, or should I say Non-connectivity. WHY should I use my data plan when I should be using and enjoying the benefits of wifi????? My wife is due for an upgrade from her Droid X in July and we are both Motorola fans, she has her office in our home and we are already looking at the Nexus and IPhone which breaks her heart after she is seeing what a great phone the Razr Maxx could be. Any help would be greatful.
