My name is Douglas Brown. I retired recently (July 2017) from a long career in software development and maintenance, 'winding down' as an editor of tech docs for the last ten years. Now, with some free time, I have started work on a book that I have been jotting notes about for the last 35+ years.
To keep track of the huge pile of notes, I have been a long-term user of Linux (after dumping Windows 98, and seeing no reason to go back for later versions). I have also owned a variety of smartphones (do we still call them that?) running Android. My note taking is increasingly taking place on that platform these days. I think that Lollipop was my first taste of Android. My latest (arrived today) is a 2nd-hand Honor P9 running Android 7.
To be honest, I knew nothing about this forum until I hit a problem setting up my new phone just now. I found this site in my search to find a good place to request help. I have a knotty set-up problem that has me utterly stumped - despite decades of hi-tech computer experience (so don't let me down guys).
But I am glad I found this site; it's my kind of treasury of Android knowledge, and I am sure that I'll be sticking around.
