Maybe it is time to switch....

I have enjoyed my LG Motion, but since Metro will no longer support the CDMA network, and since I have been having a lot of dropped calls and a difficult time connecting to the Internet from both my home and the library, I have begun to wonder if maybe I should finally try the iPhone.

Two years ago I switched from Windows based computers to a Mac, and I will NEVER go back to a Windows based computer. I LOVE my Mac!!! Any advice on switching from an Android phone to an iPhone?? My LG Motion was the first smart phone I ever used (it was a gift), so I do not know anything about any other smart phone, including iPhones.

Your comments and advise will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

In (my) order of phone operating systems, until they come out with a pure Linux phone, are Android, iOS (trailing way behind) and Windows (not even up to the starting line yet).

I'd either wait until Metro makes the official switch in your area (they'll probably be offering pretty good deals on GSM phones) or just buy a good Android GSM phone now.

Buy an iPhone? If I got one as a gift, I'd put it on Swappa before I opened the box. About the only advantage to iPhones is ...

(About the only one I can think of is that Apple makes money if you buy one. Unless being WAY overpriced for what you get is an advantage. Besides, I'd never buy a phone with a battery that's not user-replaceable.)

I went by the MetroPCS store today. Woman told me the best I could do was an LG 4G and pay $53+ with tax for it. I mentioned the iPhone, and she said I could use an unlocked iPhone at Metro. I asked if I could unlock my LG Motion and use it with a carrier that still uses CDMA. She said no. Now, how can that be? If other phones can be "unlocked," why cannot my LG Motion from Metro?

Anyway, I think you are correct. I am going to wait and see what happens. I am annoyed right now, though, because my phone keeps dropping calls and Internet connection is slow.

Different technologies, the Motion is CDMA and other CDMA networks don't accept other carriers phones. Only metro did that a couple years ago with MetroFlash. Then the other networks are the other technology (GSM) which isn't compatible with CDMA. GSM does allow you to go to other carriers just a matter of being unlocked and switching SIM cards. Metro is now a GSM company after the T-Mobile merger so that's why you can bring GSM devices to metro but can't bring the old CDMA devices from before the merger anywhere else

Oh, I see. Thank you for explaining that. Well, the switch to the GSM is a good thing on the whole then, I guess.

Another thing I do not understand is why the LG Optimus F6 is working off of Jelly Bean 4.1 whilst the LG Optimus L70 is working off of KitKat (which is the newest) yet the F6 costs more. Why?

I think the answer is the F6 has better some better internals, but it came out before the L70.

I don't think the manufacturers pay more to have the newest operating OS version, but typically only a few or the "flagship" phone upgrade to the newest opperating system once they are in the field.

Asof now Metro has a horrible phone selection. Go with aome unlocked phone. Moto G could be bought from amazon refurbished for $150. or Moto x for around $220 lightly used with 30 guarantee return. I'm not getting any phone which has than 8 gb of space, kitkat and at least 300ppi screen.

When is this change supposed to take place?

And I thought 4GLTE was supposed to work thru out the switch and the GSM/CDMA issue wasn't relevant?
