Help MB525 Issues

Help I have a MB525 and I am trying to turn it into a wireless Hotspot as I have seen some other phones do so I can connect my ipad and other wireless stuff to it when I am out and about. I have tryed a few things but it just wont work. I just dont know what I am doing wrong.

The (unbranded) DEFY had its own mobile hotspot app installed on it even with 2.1, but that may have been taken off on certain regions/network branded models.

I have 2 Defys and both will time out after 10 mins even after I change the settings. I need help, this sucks.
