Root MBR checksum error; can't return to stock 2.1

I learned the hard way that you're not supposed to use Rom Manager to partition SD cards so now I have the MBR checksum error, failed to wipe msg, and can't Odin back to stock 2.1. I can get the phone operational with email using Eugene's 2.2 no brick but Odin back to stock never works - stuck on black screen with lit buttons after boot. I've tried using Odin 1.0 and 1.3 with/without the Re-partition option. Nothing works. I used Ubuntu to partition and format one or both of the SDs but I think I wasn't seeing the entire size (2.5GB?) for internal. Anyway I am now able to use Vibrant to format both and have the following directories but can't get back to stock 2.1 and can't seem to fix the MBR checksum error which I think has got to be my problem right? I should say that my end goal is to be flash a custom ROM but have (and be able to flash) the stock image to restore in case I need to send phone in later on.

Do you have CWM installed? If so, what version? If you can get to 2.5.1.2, there are options(that actually work) to get your internal memory formatted correctly. I'm not 100% on the entire process, but I would give that a shot.

Yes, originally I used CWM. How do I tell if it is installed now and what version? If not installed do I just find a guide on how to install 2.5.1.2?

Ok, the Eugene No Brick Rom I downloaded originally must have not been corrupt or not genuine because I downloaded another one from akaskiller and it worked first try.
