Media question

Hello all, new to Android so please excuse this post if it has already been covered (or the question is dumb lol :o)

I am having a difficult time with the gallery. I downloaded Astro File Manager which has helped enormously but I still have a few questions if anyone could shed some light:

1. I dl wallpapers from sites like zedge or flickr. But I don't see an option for "Download to.." so that I have a bunch of different wallpaper folders all over the place. Is there a way I can designate where to download to?

2. I inserted my sd card from my bb to my new phone. I have my picture folders show up ok, but the gallery also pulls up images of things that I do not want to pop up. For instance, when I want to change my wallpaper, icons pop up from my old battery ex folder(for those who have had bb's). And it wouldn't be so bad if those icons stayed in the folder that it's in on my sd card, but for some reason all of those images/icons pull up seperately out of the folder (while my pictures stay in the folder no problem). I guess my question is, can I stop certain images/folders from popping up in the gallery without my having to delete them from the sd card?

I hope the explanation is not too rambling. Thanks for any help in advance!

1. No, you can set the apps to have a "download to specific folder". The wallpapers from zedge go into an album called wallpaper anyway, so its not really messy. In Android since the apps are sandboxed, they each have their own settings.

2. Honestly, you should get all data you need from the old card and reformat it.

3. as for choosing which folders can show on your gallery, you need to get a different gallery app from stock, since it doesn't have that feature. QuickPic is my favorite Gallery app.

1. I tried going into the specific apps where I dl pics from but couldn't find any setting for "download to.." The Zedge wallies do go into a wallpapers folder (which is nice) but I noticed sometimes it goes into a download folder. Or the flickr photos go into images etc... I can cut and move all these to get into one folder but was just wondering if there was an easier way to do this.

2. Honestly, as I said new to Android so taking baby steps~

3. Thanks for the tip. Will check out QuickPic

1. If the app doesn't have it, you can't. You can manually move them. All you will need is a PC, or at least a file manager app. Some phones have a native one (My Files for Samsung phones), or you can download one from the Play Store. Astro File Manager is a highly recommended one. Just look for whatever folder they are in and move them to where you want them to be.

2. Doesn't matter if new to Android. This should be a normal common step for any phone in general. Always format the card before using it anywhere else. It doesn't matter if its from Android to Android, BB to Android, Nokia to Android, or vice versa and in any combination you can think of. ALWAYS format the card.

1. As stated in my OP I have been using Astro File Manager, but thanks for the definitive answer on the "download to" question.

2. Did not know this was a common step so thanks for the info(learn something new every day). Does something happen if you do not format? I've been using the sd card ok?

3. DL QuickPic and is very nice!

If you do not format, you run the risk of corrupting files in the card mainly because its a different system. There are different system files from each OS or phones which they handle differently. Its not an imperative step but its very much recommended.
