media scanner maybe

I think this is a media scanner problem.. I'm not sure.
i use kakaotalk and they recently changed the way they send files. Before it let you use your default app to choose your files, but now they default to an internal one. The problem is that the internal one is not synced to what is actually there.

For example if I hide a folder with 300 photos then unhide it, it suddenly only shows 6 images in it when I try to send a photo using the internal browser. If I force it to allow me to use an external app (which only allows me to send one at once rather than groups of images up to 10 with multiselect) it will manually reveal the one image I've chosen in the internal browser (assuming it's an image that hasn't already been added). Sounds complicated but the 6 images now shows as 20 in the internal manager, because I've used the outside app to manually send 14 of those.

restarting the app
restarting the phone won't seem to get this to re-index the files properly.

Other new files seem to, sometimes, show up without issue. If i edit a photo and save a duplicate then go to send a file, that one seems to show up.

Also sometimes images I've deleted still show up as there seems to be some major delay syncing sometimes.

This is an example this happens in several apps which use their own internal photo manager rather than the one I normally use.
A media scanner app does not fix this (just tried one)

This is on a galaxy S3
