Help Media scanner not working!

Android Enthusiast
Hi. Yesterday I added three music albums onto my external SD card. However they have not shown up in either Player Pro or the stock Media Hub app!

I have tried the following:

1) turning phone off\on
2) turning phone off, removing and replacing SD card and then turning on
3) using the apps Rescan SD and Rescan Media.

Phone was rooted but I recently updated via Kies to latest build which removed root and I haven't re rooted.

Any ideas?

Did you go more than 3 folder layers deep? You can only use 2, ie Music > Led Zeppelin IV folder with that albums songs on it. If you go Music > Led Zeppelin > Led Zeppelin IV the stock player won't see it.

No - only one layer "/media/album_name"

"Factory Reset / wipe data" - as per the link in my signature...

Mmm thought as much.

As I plan to sell my phone in the next month or so I wasn't planning to root again. A factory reset will wipe all my apps and data. I have Titanium backup but it needs root. In your opinion whats the best way to back up without root?

Mybackup pro perhaps? has a 30 day trial. or Carbon (from a PC)

You wouldn't want to restore everything anyway, as that would undermine the requirement to reset

Thanks. What should I NOT restore?

Also without root will 'My Backup' save my progress in games? Not a biggy but got quite far in Angry Birds Star Wars ;->

Just restore user apps and their data. No "system" data.

Backup /sdcard to your pc before resetting. Some games save data in /sdcard/Android/data I believe. I'm not sure exactly what is not backed up (without root) anymore.
