Media server killing battery.

OK I ve been using JB for a month and I thoguht the problem was that i update from ICS without fresh start.
So I reseted my phone, fresh start from JB, and after few weeks the media server drain got back!
I was reading lot of forums about it but it seems that nobody can fix it..
I just found a way to stop this problem but Im sure that is gonna start again.. so far the only way I got this battery drain off is removing the SD card for a few minutes. After that Media server stops working and no more battery drain.
any ideas??

I recently sorted my battery problem by not having an SD card anymore, not saying it's going to be the same solution for you but if taking the card out solves it it may well be.

Usually by doing a soft reset(taking the battery out and the card as well for maybe for 1min solves the issue) but after rooting never had this problem again :)

Could also be an indication of a corrupt file or SD Card. May want to put it into a card reader on the PC. In Windows Explorer, right click on the SC Card drive and select properties. Now select Tools at the top, and then under Error checking select Check.

I rooted my S2 2 weeks ago and since then my phone was draining battery fast when not in use. The symptom is exactly like someone described in the forum: the phone is HOT, and 80% battery gone in 2-3 hours with high % usage of Media Server in battery status. Try many ways unsuccessfully and finally found some suggestions to remove the Viber app and I did uninstall it and cleared its data and then re-installed it and every thing works fine then. I am happy !! Thanks!

I am also a victim of Media eating my battery. Seems like most people relate the problem to an SD card issue... however in my case that is definitely not true since I don't even have an SD card! Others suggest that clearing cache, wiping cache partition, soft resetting or factory resetting will solve the problem. None of these actions has worked for me. The only thing I can do is disable media, and that works. However it must be done immediately after each reboot. Highly annoying. I have a Verizon non rooted SG3 running 4.1.2. Incidentally I did not have this problem prior to this update.

One way that I've heard of to resolve this problem is to back up everything from your sdcard to your pc and then format the sdcard in the phone, then restore everything back onto the sdcard from the computer. pita but it has been known to fix this.
